Which iPhones Have LiDAR? The Complete List for 2026

Only Pro iPhones have a LiDAR scanner. If your phone is an iPhone 12 Pro or newer Pro or Pro Max model, it has one; every standard, Plus, mini, Air and Duo model does not. On iPad, every iPad Pro from 2020 onward has LiDAR, while iPad, iPad Air and iPad mini do not.

The Complete List of iPhones with LiDAR (2026)

Apple has put a LiDAR scanner on every Pro iPhone since the iPhone 12 Pro in 2020. As of September 2026, that is: iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max; iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max; iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max; iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max; iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max; iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max; and iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.

No non-Pro iPhone has LiDAR. That includes every iPhone 12 through 18 base model, the Plus and mini models, iPhone SE, iPhone 16e, iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. Those phones have excellent cameras, but they estimate depth from images rather than measuring it with a laser, so they cannot run LiDAR room scanning.

Which iPads Have LiDAR?

Every iPad Pro released from 2020 onward has a LiDAR scanner: the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2020), the M1 (2021) and M2 (2022) iPad Pro, and the M4 and later iPad Pro models. The larger screen makes an iPad Pro a comfortable scanning device, although most field professionals prefer a phone they already carry.

Standard iPad, iPad Air and iPad mini models do not have LiDAR, even the newest ones.

How to Check Whether Your Device Has LiDAR

The fastest check is Settings → General → About and read the Model Name. If it says "Pro" and is an iPhone 12 Pro or later (or an iPad Pro from 2020 or later), you have LiDAR.

You can also look at the camera bump. The LiDAR scanner is a small, solid black circle, usually next to the flash, that is not a camera lens. Phones with only two or three lenses and a flash — and no extra black dot — don't have it.

Finally, open Apple's built-in Measure app. On LiDAR devices it shows a ruler view with fine tick marks along measured lines and can measure a person's height automatically; those features rely on the depth sensor.

What LiDAR Actually Does for Floor Plans

LiDAR (light detection and ranging) fires thousands of invisible laser pulses and times their return to build a depth map of the room. Apple's RoomPlan framework turns that depth data into walls, doors, windows and openings in real time, which is why a LiDAR scan produces a dimensioned floor plan rather than just a 3D photo.
